A Stafford insurance expert is in the swim when it comes to raising vital funds for Diabetes UK.

Zoe Bytheway is a member of the Bayliss & Cooke team on Weston Road, and she’s taking on the national Swim 22 challenge which runs from July 22 to October 22.

There are three distances to choose from, and fund raisers can take the challenge at their own pace, in their own local pool over the three months – either individually or as a team.

The challenges are:

  • The Half – 11 miles (half the distance to France)
  • The Full – 22 miles (the distance of the English Channel and the most popular choice with challengers)
  • The Double – 44 miles (to France and back)
  • Zoe, who deals with insurance clients who need personal and commercial cover, will be taking on The Full – 22 miles, and she’s looking forward to putting herself to the test.

“I wanted to raise funds for such an important cause because I have Family and Friends who have suffered from Diabetes and would like to help raise money to keep adding to the pot so there can be treatments offered to those who need it”

“Both Bayliss & Cooke and the Henshalls Group have already been so supportive with their donations to my fundraising total, and now I’m hoping other people in the local area will be prepared to back my efforts.”

“It’s a really daunting prospect for me, but as well as raising vital funds for such an incredible charity, it’s also giving me the opportunity to take regular exercise and to get fitter at the same time.”

The start of the challenge had originally been planned for April, but with the uncertainty over Coronavirus conditions and the restrictions on swimming pools, organisers made the decision to move it to July when people across the UK should be able to dive into the challenge at the same time, together.

Zoe, who joined the Bayliss & Cooke team in December last year, said her colleagues were right behind her fundraising efforts and were helping to motivate her to complete the challenge.

“It’s been great to start my Henshalls Group career with such a positive and inspirational team, and I’m thoroughly enjoying my time in my new role. Thank you to everyone who has already supported my challenge and if you feel able to offer a donation please visit
